Set up the first "Organic Production Standard and Certification System" in Hong Kong

HOFA's standard and certification committee set up the first "Organic Production Standard and Certification System" in Hong Kong, so as to protect the interest of organic producers, traders and consumers.

A Workshop on “Building up a Local Organic Standard and Certification System”

HOFA held the Workshop in the City University of Hong Kong on 17-18 May 2002. Mr. Vitoon Panyakul (Green-net, Thailand) was invited to give talk on establishing local organic certification system. 

Hong Kong Organic Resources Centre (HKORC)

Funded by the Vegetable Marketing Organisation (VMO) Agricultural Development Fund, HOFA collaborated with Biology Department of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBC) and Produce Green Foundation (PGF) establishing Hong Kong Organic Resources Centre (HKORC) in December 2002. HKORC works on the development of local organic standard and certification system. Under management of HKORC, Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre Certification Limited (ORC-Cert) has been set up in 2004 to provide certification service for local organic production and processing.
